Welcome to our inaugural blog post “Shape Up with VelaShape III.” Our first post focuses on VelaShape because we are seeing a lot of clients who are struggling with "COVID Weight Gain". Honestly, you’d be hard pressed to talk to someone who didn’t gain at least a little weight during COVID. In fact, studies show that the average American gained 29 lbs during COVID! If you gained weight during COVID, don’t beat yourself up too much—it’s not like there was much else to do! Eating was about the only interesting thing we had going for us! Certainly we are still struggling to move beyond pandemic life, but these days, many locals are seeking treatment to help them get back into shape--and at our spa that means VelaShape III.
Our Client Story
We recognize that it’s one thing to talk about getting back into shape, but it’s another thing to see it in action! One of our regular clients agreed to help us chronicle her journey with VelaShape III at Health and Beauty for life. Our client reached out to us explaining she wanted to be bikini ready this summer. She admitted that while she generally eats pretty well and works our regularly, she did experience some weight gain during COVID.
Her goal entailed a 12-week fitness challenge to lose 8% of her weight. She committed to maintaining a healthy diet, working out regularly, and adding VelaShape III to her plan. Her biggest complaint was the appearance of her stomach because wearing a bikini, well, bears all. This 40 year-old mom has loose skin, stretch marks, and pockets of cellulite around her mid-section, so while diet and exercise help a lot, it’s usually not enough to deal with the additional cosmetic issues.
In a nutshell, VelaShape III is a noninvasive cellulite and body contouring treatment. It’s actually the only FDA-cleared device that can eliminate cellulite while reducing body circumference. It works by utilizing Elos technology combined with infrared light, bi-polar radio frequency, mechanical massage, and pulsatile vacuum to shrink fat cells. Some clients wonder if VelaShape hurts. It doesn’t hurt but it does get hot. Your treatment provider will work closely with you to evaluate your tolerance. The hotter you can tolerate the better, but that’s different for everyone—and different depending on the area you’re working on.

This client started her weight loss challenge in April right after Easter. This 40 year-old mom explained she understands what she needs to do to lose weight, and explained that weight loss was only part of her goal. What she really wants is to wear a bikini for the first time since her son was born (2017), but feels self-conscious about her stomach. So, we decided to add VelaShape III to her plan. Please note: VelaShape treatments focus on cellulite and skin contouring and does not directly result in weight-loss. A healthy diet and exercise is recommended as part of any VelaShape III plan.
Before
Here is our client's first before photo. You can see below the effects of age and pregnancy. She has a belly button hood, stretch marks, and loose, sagging skin. Working out just can't do much to fix these kind of issues.
Week 1
You can see below at week 1 the client is getting started with treatment. She shared her fitness challenge weight with us too for reference. In the first week's photo you can see the redness of the treatment area. The area is also a little bit swollen. This is normal and generally resolves within a few hours (usually 24 hours at most).
Week 2
The client has done well with her fitness challenge and lost a couple of pounds and had her second VelaShape III treatment. You can see there's a slimmer appearance and improved skin tightening.
